DV Diamonds

How a custom piece is made.

Five clear steps from first idea to finished jewellery. You approve the design and the diamond before anything is made.

The five steps.

Five clear steps. You approve the design and the diamond before anything is made.

Step 1

Consultation

Meet in the studio or by video. Share photos, ideas, a budget range and any old jewellery you want to trade in. It is free and there is no obligation.

Step 2

Sketch and 3D render

We draw options by hand, then build a 3D render you can turn and zoom. Revise it until it is right.

Step 3

Choose the diamond

Compare certified natural (GIA) and lab-grown (IGI) stones side by side, with every report explained.

Step 4

Made by hand

Your piece is cast, set and finished at our Toronto bench, usually within 3 to 4 weeks of design approval.

Step 5

Final check and delivery

We inspect every setting, photograph the piece and hand it to you in person or by insured delivery.

Step 1

The consultation

Your first visit is free and takes about an hour in the studio or 45 minutes by video. We look at your references, ask how the piece will be worn, and talk through budget openly. Bring any old jewellery you want to trade in and we value it on the spot.

You can try on settings, see diamonds of different shapes and sizes, and leave with a written estimate that includes any trade-in credit.

Step 2

Sketches and a 3D render

We draw options by hand first, because it is the fastest way to test ideas. Once a direction feels right, we build a 3D CAD model.

You review renders from every angle and ask for changes to prongs, profile, band width or proportions until it is exactly what you want.

Step 3

Choosing the diamond

We source several stones that fit your design and budget, natural with GIA reports or lab-grown with IGI reports, and compare them with you side by side.

We explain each report in plain terms so you can see why one stone costs more than another.

Step 4

Made by hand

Once you approve the render and stone and the deposit is paid (trade-in credit can count toward it), the piece goes to the bench. It is cast, cleaned, set and polished in our studio.

Most pieces are finished within 3 to 4 weeks of approval.

Final check and handover

Every setting is checked under magnification, the piece is photographed, and we hand it to you in person or send it by insured delivery.

Bring it back any time for free cleaning and inspection.
