Questions about custom jewellery.

Pricing and budget
How much does a custom piece cost?
Every piece is quoted individually after a free consultation. The diamond, metal weight and design work set the price, and we design within the budget range you give us. Old jewellery you trade in is credited against the quote.
Is custom more expensive than buying from a store?
Not necessarily. You pay for the stone, the metal and the work, without a retail markup on stock that sits in a case. You can also trade in old jewellery you no longer wear to bring the cost down further.
Do I pay a deposit?
Yes. A deposit confirms your order once you approve the design and the diamond, and the balance is due when the piece is ready. Trade-in credit from your old jewellery can be applied to the deposit.
Which payment methods do you accept?
Credit and debit cards, Interac e-Transfer and wire transfer. Large balances are often easiest by e-Transfer or wire. We also accept your old gold, platinum and diamonds as a trade-in toward your new piece.
Trade-ins
Do you accept old jewellery as a trade-in?
Yes. We accept gold, platinum, diamonds and many gemstones as a trade-in, and credit their value toward any new piece you design with us. Worn, broken or mismatched pieces are welcome.
How is my trade-in valued?
We test and weigh the metal in front of you and assess each diamond for cut, colour, clarity and carat. You receive a written trade-in value at your consultation, before you commit to anything.
Can my trade-in credit cover the deposit?
Yes. Your credit comes off the quote for your new piece and can be applied to the deposit, the balance, or both.
Do I need receipts or certificates for a trade-in?
No. They help if you have them, but we assess every piece ourselves in the studio.
Can I keep a stone from the jewellery I trade in?
Yes. Many clients keep a family diamond and set it into the new design, and trade in only the metal and any stones they do not want.
Is there any obligation once you value my jewellery?
None. The assessment is free and part of your consultation. If you decide not to go ahead, you take your jewellery home.
Design and timing
How does the design process work?
We start with a consultation, draw sketches, and build a 3D render you can review and revise. Production starts only after you approve the final design.
How long does a custom piece take?
Most pieces are ready 3 to 4 weeks after design approval. Tell us your date and we will plan the schedule around it.
Can you rush an order?
Often, yes. Ask at your consultation and we will tell you honestly whether your date is possible.
I only have a photo from Instagram or Pinterest. Is that enough?
Yes. A photo is a good starting point. We design a piece inspired by it and changed to suit you, not a copy of another jeweller's work.
Diamonds
Do you sell natural or lab-grown diamonds?
Both. Natural diamonds come with a GIA report and lab-grown diamonds with an IGI report.
Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?
Yes. They have the same chemical makeup, hardness and sparkle as natural diamonds. The difference is how they form and what they cost.
Where do your natural diamonds come from?
We buy natural diamonds through suppliers that follow the Kimberley Process, and we can tell you what is known about a specific stone's origin.
Can you use my own diamond?
Yes. We inspect it first, record it on a written intake receipt, and keep it insured while it is with us.
Visiting and delivery
Do I need an appointment?
For design consultations, yes, so we can prepare stones and references for you. Repairs can be dropped off during studio hours.
Do you offer video consultations?
Yes, for clients anywhere in Ontario and across Canada.
Do you ship?
Yes. Finished pieces outside Toronto are sent by insured, signature-required delivery.
Care and warranty
What does the warranty cover?
Our lifetime craftsmanship warranty covers defects in how a piece was made. It does not cover loss, theft or damage from accidents.
Do you clean and inspect jewellery?
Yes, for free, any time you visit. We recommend a check every 6 to 12 months.
Can you resize my ring later?
Most solid rings can be resized. Resizing in the first year is free on pieces we made.
